Job Summary
This position is currently work at home but may require a hybrid, onsite 2-3 days / work at home schedule in the future due to business need. This position is currently available to candidates that reside within 60 miles of Columbus, OH; Chadds Ford, PA; or Plano, TX.

The Accounting department's role is to have accurate, timely and informative results with a service minded approach. As a department, our role is to assist others and to support our CFO with Bread Financial initiatives. Our financial systems are robust and integrated to have best of breed. As a team, we work hard and value working together towards a common goal. Under supervision, the Staff Accountant II assists in the financial and operational close; preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, financial analysis of balance sheets, income statements, summary financial reports, and ad hoc financial analysis. The Staff Accountant II is responsible for preparing timely and accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations and journal entries, completing expense and Balance Sheet analysis associated with the month-end close process as well as various daily tasks to ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts, management reporting and ad hoc analysis.

Essential Job Functions
Accounting: Prepares monthly account reconciliations for various Balance Sheet accounts. Preparation includes detailed reconciliation with appropriate supporting documentation, knowledge of how the respective account is impacted to track down reconciling items, the ability to explain fluctuations and working cross-functionally to ensure reconciling items are resolved in a timely and accurate manner. Prepares recurring and ad hoc journal entries for various General Ledger accounts, which includes thoughtful understanding as to why each entry is required and attaching appropriate supporting documentation with proper footing. Completes monthly analysis surrounding Balance Sheet accounts and variance fluctuations are explained. Assists in providing the appropriate supporting documentation to internal/external auditors for various audits throughout the year. Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy by analyzing data and drawing conclusions based upon the data. Establishes and meets critical deadlines while prioritizing multiple activities and complex projects simultaneously. Applies knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work.
Report ing: Produces reporting for internal/external audiences based on SLAs and provides business perspective on various business drivers. Reporting includes various metrics to upper management and meaningful analytics to assist management in driving the business forward and partner accordingly with clients.
Analysis : Works cross-functionally with other departments, clients or vendors to ensure the accuracy of account activity. This can include detailed account investigation, issue resolution with vendor, clients and cardholders, executing accurate vendor/client adjustments and understanding the financial implications. Utilizes strong written and verbal communication skills.

Reports to: Manager, Accounting, Lead Accountant, or Senior Manager, Accounting

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Normal office environment, some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum currently enrolled for Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related

One or more years experience in basic accounting principals (AP, AR, journal entries, GL, etc.)

Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Finance, or Business related
Certification – Certified Public Accountant candidate
One or more years experience in Accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis and reporting.
Systems experience: Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, PeopleSoft, Blackline

Salary Range:
$47,000.00 - $115,500.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
