Overview:
The Senior accountant will support various aspects of the finance department for the system. The candidate will need to be effective and experienced in the general accounting function. The position requires solid accounting experience combined with strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, you will work with both the finance and budget/reimbursement director. Your work will include the reconciliation process for various balance sheet accounts, conduct fundamental account analysis, and you will be actively involved in our monthly closing process:
  • The Senior Accountant is responsible for month-end close and monthly financial reporting:
    • Record financial transactions
    • Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
    • Review, track, analyze and reconcile all information for accuracy and compliance
    • Analyze budget variances
    • Prepare monthly reports
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations in support of the financial statements
  • Prepare audit worksheets and reports
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports/analysis as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintain accounting controls by following and/or recommending policies and procedures
  • Act as an advisor to Managers/Directors on financial formulation. Respond to department managers' inquiries regarding departmental reports. Participate in meetings as needed.
  • Exemplify a high standard of customer service.
  • Perform other work- related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferably in a healthcare or public accounting environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel including macros.
  • Experience/Knowledge of Lawson financial module (Infor).
  • Ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality and timeliness of the monthly financial statement closing cycle and associated account reconciliations
  • Ability to analyze revenue, salaries and benefits, and other than personnel services (“OTPS”) expenses
Physical requirements:
  • Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewing throughout the working day.
  • Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
