Job description
- The Senior Accountant is responsible for month-end close and monthly financial reporting:
- Record financial transactions
- Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Review, track, analyze and reconcile all information for accuracy and compliance
- Analyze budget variances
- Prepare monthly reports
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations in support of the financial statements
- Prepare audit worksheets and reports
- Prepare ad-hoc reports/analysis as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Maintain accounting controls by following and/or recommending policies and procedures
- Act as an advisor to Managers/Directors on financial formulation. Respond to department managers' inquiries regarding departmental reports. Participate in meetings as needed.
- Exemplify a high standard of customer service.
- Perform other work- related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferably in a healthcare or public accounting environment.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel including macros.
- Experience/Knowledge of Lawson financial module (Infor).
- Ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality and timeliness of the monthly financial statement closing cycle and associated account reconciliations
- Ability to analyze revenue, salaries and benefits, and other than personnel services (“OTPS”) expenses
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewing throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
