Job description
The Accounting Associate provides accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and general accounting support to the restaurants and the home office Finance team. Performs duties such as: invoice review, input, and payment; researching invoice / payment discrepancies; preparing accounting reconciliations and accruals; A/R payment applications; inventory analysis / follow-up and report production. The Accounting Associate will also provide support during the month-end process and annual audit.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices, entering detailed inventory information into the AP system
- Investigate and resolve questions from vendors and/or restaurant operations regarding invoices or payments. Reconcile vendor accounts monthly including credits
- Prepare weekly check run and submit for approval and signature. Print & mail checks.
- Prepare & distribute weekly COGS inventory variance reports, research and correct discrepancies
- Prepare & distribute weekly COGS analysis report, identify inventory discrepancies and correct prior to distribution
- Reconcile and follow up on outstanding AR accounts, research and reconcile payments
- Audit daily sales reports that are submitted from the restaurant group for accuracy. Resolve discrepancies and post sales to the general ledger.
- Prepare and maintain certain weekly/monthly accounting reconciliation schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and year-end reconciliation schedules.
- Assist Director of Finance and Assistant Controller with month end processing
- Special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and restaurant operations.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize, with excellent attention to detail
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
Minimum Education & Training
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- 1-2 years experience in a corporate accounting environment preferred.
- Experience working with general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable is desired.
- Restaurant/Hospitality experience a plus
- Knowledge of accounting software (specifically COMPEAT) and proficiency in Microsoft software (specifically Excel and Outlook) is preferred
