The Accounting Manager, under the direction of the VP Finance & Accounting, is responsible for accounting compliance, overseeing the daily and month end accounting operations along with the supervision of the A/R, A/P and accounting staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, develop and mentor accounting team consisting of A/R, A/P, and general accounting staff.
• Lead the month-end close process, including preparation and/or review, as appropriate, of all monthly journal entries, revenue recognition, and all account reconciliations.
• Perform initial review and analysis of monthly financial statements, making adjustments as necessary and in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting package to be distributed to CEO, COO and VP Finance & Accounting
• Act as main liaison for annual audits (financial, sales tax, property tax) and responsible for preparation of support schedules, analysis questions, and other requirements.
• Oversee filing of monthly sales & use tax, property tax and other tax requirements.
• Support staff on various systems such as SAP Concur, Royalty Tracker, Merchant eSolutions, and Avalara.
• Review author royalty statements to ensure accuracy prior to payment.
• File annual reports for various states and ensure company compliance.
• Develop an understanding of key financial processes to be able to suggest and implement improvements.
• Establish accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide financial analysis on various activities/special projects.
• Willingness to work on other ad hoc projects and analyses as required.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of Full-Cycle Accounting Experience (A/R, A/P, G/L, Bank Reconciliation, Chargeback’s, Month-End / Year-End Closing).
• 3+ years of leading a team is required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent financial analysis capabilities and strong accounting knowledge.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently with attention to details.
• Organized, honest, and reliable.
• Ambitious, proactive, and positive attitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• NetSuite experience preferred.
• CPA certification a plus.

Travel:

• 0-10%. Travel to the Torrance office for the occasional team or corporate event, travel to various conferences likely.
