About the Accounting Manager

Upperline Health is looking for an Accounting Manager to support our team by performing and managing full scope accounting for our corporate, physician practices and ancillaries. The Accounting Manager will manage the day-to-day accounting functions and systems, process improvements, and various ad hoc projects. In addition to standard accounting expertise, ideal candidates will also possess have strong analytical skills, multi-site healthcare and management experience. Upperline is looking for strong performers who are eager to tackle problems and tasks, both big and small, have exceptional attention to detail and be self-starters with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing growth environment. This position is a new addition to Upperline’s small and growing accounting team. This is position is in our Nashville office with flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee and support accounting team with leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
• Manage and complete period close to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
• Lead and guide the process improvements and system integrations
• Prepare monthly financial statement and ensured timely reporting of financial information including consolidated financials on GAAP basis
• Ensure all accounting practices are compliant with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
• Review all balance sheet reconciliations, booked entries and be comfortable making journal entries when needed
• Book purchase acquisition accounting for deal closings
• Communicate variances and trends with the financial report users
• Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records
• Field financial questions and request from other departments
• Assist in the annual audit, ensure all audit evidence is reviewed and explained effectively to auditors
• Complete and review complex balance sheet reconciliations and review accounting team’s reconciliations and journals
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by filing financial reports/tax returns, making payments according to schedule, and licensing
• Assist with tax documentation preparation
• Collaborate with the company financial team to create internal controls and policies
• Ad hoc reports and projects as needed
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Qualifications of the Accounting Manager

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or higher
• 5-7 years of progressive career experience in accounting
• Certified Public Accountant is required
• Healthcare industry and high-volume multi-site accounting experience are both required
• At least one year of experience as an accounting manager is ideal
• Fee for service revenue accounting or IBNR experience
• Advanced knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong understanding of tax
• Advanced Excel skills are required, expertise to automate processes preferred
• Sage Intacct experience is required, exposure or proficiency in various accounting software systems is a plus
• Demonstratable success leading initiatives, prioritizing, and organizing competing priorities and meeting time-sensitive deadlines
• Experience in a high-growth or early-stage start-up is a plus
