In the IT System Administration-Journey position within the Server & Storage Team, you will serve an Active Directory (AD) Domain Services and server administrator, responsible for system patching to include planning, testing, deploying, and monitoring system availability after patching is complete. This position also serves as the primary System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH) administrator for DOR’s information systems and infrastructure.

Duties
Active Directory (AD) Domain Services Administration:
install, test, validate, deploy, upgrade, maintain and manage the Department’s AD Domain Services (AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.) to meet Department and other regulatory requirements.- Monitor, administer, configure, implement and maintain AD Domain Services in the pre-prod, user and resource domains, such as AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Perform operational tasks as a Domain Administrator.
- Verify/remediate AD Replication.
- Monitor and Remediate SCOM alerts related to Domain Controllers.
- Monitor DHCP and DNS.
- Monitor DC and DHCP server disk space.
- Verify servers and workstations are in the correct OU, report anomalies to AD Systems Architect.
- Patch Domain Controllers.
- Create/update/delete DNS entries.
- Add/remove/monitor DHCP scopes.
- Perform patching of server and appliance systems, by planning, testing, deploying, and monitoring system availability after patching is complete.
- Ensure DOR Infrastructure servers are current with the most recent Microsoft and 3rd party patches using Department’s Change Management process and/or documenting results in ticketing system.
- Create documentation for both technical and non-technical staff detailing standards, guidelines, communications and procedures required to operate and maintain network infrastructure patching responsibilities.
- Monitor, administer, configure, implement, maintain, and operate the SCORCH platform.
- Maintain technical system documentation, including documentation of technical changes to the system.
- Ensure SCORCH is current with latest system builds, hotfixes, server operating systems and SQL versions using Department’s Change Management process and/or documenting in ticketing system.
- Manage Runbook permissions using industry best practices and least privilege principle.
- Document process and procedures for proper administration of SCORCH.
- Ensure backups are scheduled, including but not limited to runbooks, to ensure the system can be recovered in the event of a disaster.
Telework Option - Full-time telework is available for this position, however, the official duty station for this position is the Tumwater Office. The incumbent may be required to report to the office occasionally for training and equipment issue/upgrade while observing the guidelines of our safe re-entry program.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
AND
A minimum of:
Four (4) years of recent experience in the administration of Windows server environments.- Two (2) years of recent experience in the administration of Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services.
- Two (2) years of recent experience in the administration of System Center product suite.
- Please note: Qualifying experience will substitute for two years of education.
The following are desired qualifications:
- Vendor certifications in specific technologies, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
- Orchestrator Training.
- SCCM Training or Certification.
- SCOM Training.
