• Lead activities groups for individuals and small groups.
• Create appropriate therapeutic plans for patients and determine those activities suited to the needs of the individual and groups.
• Prepare written progress reports, participate in regular meetings related to department information, patient progress review and discussion of therapeutic treatment approaches.
• Organize and participate in the planning of special events, holiday celebrations and special program-wide activities.
• Maintain activity therapy equipment and supplies.
• Work with Recreational Technicians, Aides, Student Interns and Volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• BA/BS with a major in Occupation, Recreation, Art Therapy or major in Psychology, Sociology, Physical Education or allied fields.
• Applicants who do not have a college degree may substitute experience in applicable field.

• No prior experience required with degree but prefer at least one year of experience in hospital or other medical facility therapy unit.

• Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to relate to patients and families.
• Energetic approach to therapy treatment.

• Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
• Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
