Y on the Fly Program Description:

Y on the Fly is an innovative mobile Y program delivering games, sports, physical activities, and healthy food to youth, teens, and seniors in underserved neighborhoods during the spring, summer, fall and winter quarters. Each visit is 60-90 minutes and incorporates structured physical activity, physical play and engagement and discussion around healthy eating. In addition to the summer months, this program will run during the school year both in the fall, winter and spring seasons and collaborate with both our BASE locations and Y Branches on a schedule to deliver programming both at BASE Locations and at 6 Y branches.

The YOTF Activity Specialist ensures the health and safety of children, develops and implements age appropriate activities and curriculum for children ages 6 to 14 years old. This a boots on the ground position, with a focus on supervision and quality programming. The YOTF Lead Activity Specialist will ensure HEPA guidelines are met and reported on and reports to the YOTF Program Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Implements YOTF Seasonal curriculum within the established guidelines. Includes; implementing HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity) Curriculum to both small and large groups at various sites across the county.
• Drives YOTF Vans to various locations through Pittsburgh to and assist in program delivery
• Supervises children and all YOTF activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations of each child and reports information to lead staff.
• Contributes to maintaining, program records, program site and equipment.
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Wears Y uniform or name tag and adhere to the dress code.
• Ensures child safety.
• Honor the confidentiality of information.
• Familiarize self with policies in the employee handbook and onsite procedural manuals.
• Maintain compliance with HEPA reporting requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• At least 18 years of age
• CPR, First AID, AED certifications
• Pediatric First Aid with Airway breathing Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire Flexible schedule,
• Two years’ experience working with children Child Care program site area environment (non-office work environment)
• May include evening and weekends or special events staffing
• Local travel will be required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required
• Continued Education Credits (CEC) required
• Child Care certificate may be considered depending on credentials

Candidates must have final Criminal Clearance certificates prior to starting employment. This includes PA Criminal Certificate, NSOR Verification, PA FBI - Use Code: 1kg738 and PA Child Abuse.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
