Job Profile Summary: SIGN ON BONUS ELIGIBLE / ROBUST ALLINA HEALTH BENEFIT PACKAGE The Addiction Counselor utilizes critical thinking skills in the counseling process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Provision of patient care is based on care management, quality/resource, stewardship, patient advocacy/customer service and role modeling. The Counselor is accountable for professional practice of counseling and participation in the interdisciplinary care delivery model.
Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Patient/Family Assessment:
- Screen for admission to addiction services
- Participates in comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment of patient
- Assesses family dynamics and implications for successful treatment
- Addresses educational needs of patients and families and assigns appropriate work
- Facilitate group, individual and family therapy
- Treatment Planning:
- Referrals to internal and external services
- Promoting family involvement in treatment
- Provide appropriate education to patient and family
- Discharge planning
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Required
Bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Sciences field
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy
- 2 or more years of freedom from a chemical use problem
- BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required within 30 Days of hire
Preferred
- 2 or more years of experience in a treatment program highly recommended
- Experience in family dynamics and treatment issues with family
Physical Demands
Sedentary:
Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently
Additional Job Description:
- This position will be responsible for an evening outpatient caseload.
- Shift times: 2 -3 day shifts/week - 8:30am to 5pm and 2-3 evening shifts/week 12pm to 8:30pm
- Saturday rotation every 5th weekend (8am to 4:30pm)
