Come join the Aurora Mental Health Center (AuMHC) Detox team as a PRN Addiction Specialist working at least 2 shifts per month. Our Addiction Specialists support in the direct clinical care to clients, provide milieu management, and ensure safety of individuals or groups in a detoxification treatment program.
About the team.
Detox provides 24/7 acute care services to clients who are intoxicated and/or in acute withdrawal. Team consists of Shift Coordinators, Addiction Technicians/Specialists, Peer Recovery Coaches, Case Managers, and Outreach Drivers.
Salary for this role.
- $17.65 - $26.48 per hour (based on experience and company equity)
Additional Compensation Opportunities.
- Shift differential eligible based on schedule
- Bilingual Language Differential Pay: 5% of base salary up to a maximum of $3,000/year *rate depends on language requirements for the position and candidate's fluency.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with a client population that is actively intoxicated and/or experiencing symptoms of withdrawal.
- Provide guidance, safety, stability and direction to clients. Identify emergency signals and situations and reacts appropriately.
- Perform accurate, legal, timely and ethical documentation at all times, including admissions and discharges, inventories and screening of clients personal belongings, and charting of all significant interactions with each client.
- Monitor and document client vital signs, physical condition and behavior as needed. Enters data using Electronic Health.
- Monitor/observe Urinalysis (UA) or Breath Alcohol (BA) tests as needed and documents appropriately.
- Monitor the facility to insure it is maintained in a neat and orderly manner and that all outside doors remain secured.
- Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
- Refer client to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling when needed.
- May assist in transporting admitted clients to hospitals, aftercare or other approved services as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
Scope of practice may include:
- Treating substance use and co-occurring disorders
- Clinical assessments including diagnostic impression
- Treatment planning
- Referral and discharge planning
- Service coordination and case management
- Addiction counseling for individuals, families, and groups
- Client, family, and community education and psycho-education
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a clinical behavioral health concentration; or High school diploma or equivalent with CAC II acquired prior to April 1, 2021
- Six months' work experience in behavioral health or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CAS (Certified Addiction Specialist) actively registered with Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs (DORA).
- Actively registered with Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs (DORA) within 90 days of hire.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License with a driving record that meets organization's requirements.
- Preferred: Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP)
- Basic computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to learn and develop proficiency working with specialized software utilized in program and to operate copier, scanner, and signature pad.
- Ability to write clinical notes and summaries in prescribed style and format.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Required Vaccinations.
AuMHC has prioritized the health and safety of our clients and staff and requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as well as receive an annual influenza (flu) shot prior to their first day of hire. Proof of both vaccinations we will be required upon your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may be requested for either COVID 19 vaccine or annual flu shot.
