Job Summary
Additive manufacturing engineer shall have a strong understanding of the various technologies and materials available to most efficiently satisfy customer project requirements. This position will require build set up, machine operation, parameter adjustments to optimize quality of parts, and troubleshooting of build issues. The AM engineer will be responsible for the quality of product being produced and shipped to our customers. This position requires customer interaction to better understand their requirements, which may include reviewing drawings and technical documentation, making recommendations on materials and processes, and designing basic fixturing, molds, and secondary post processing procedures. AM engineer will be involved in the preparation of quotes and initiating new orders for service. Will also support the sales and marketing team with technical knowledge of materials and equipment that ART distributes. This position will report to the VP of Manufacturing.
Specific Responsibilities
- Customer interface, generating quotes, reviewing drawings and CAD models, processing 3D printing jobs on appropriate equipment.
- Quality control, measuring parts, insuring measurement devices are calibrated, generating inspection reports, maintain organizational compliance with ISO-9001 standards.
- Evaluate new additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, provide input to new equipment acquisition, develop and maintain equipment utilization plan, develop deep understanding of AM technologies, materials, and equipment to best direct customer projects.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree, BS.
- 5-10 years of experience in the additive manufacturing industry.
- Able to design parts with computer aided design (CAD) software. Familiarity with STL file manipulation software, such as Materialise Magics or equivalent.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift 10kg resin containers 1-3 times per day.
- Manufacturing/industrial workspace. Must be able to move throughout the space and use all equipment. Some equipment requires standing while others require sitting to operate.
- Approximately 60-70% of time will be at a desk.
Travel
- Minimum local travel. Potential visit to customer locations for project meetings.
- Professional development: conferences and tradeshows, 5-10 days per year.
