Aurora University seeks talented adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. Adjunct faculty are qualified part-time instructors offered teaching opportunities based on course demand and staffing.

The College of Education and Social Work at Aurora University seeks adjunct faculty to teach in the Autism Studies major.

Qualified candidates must possess the academic credentials to teach in this major. Classes include:

• SPED2300: Introduction to Autism Studies – 4 credits
• SPED2350: Social Implications for Individuals with Autism – 4 credits
• SPED3100: Cultural and Media Representation of Autism – 4 credits
• SPED3150: Therapeutic and Service Models and Modalities for Autism – 4 credits
• SPED3300: Navigating the Bureaucracies Associated with Autism – 4 credits
• SPED4100: Collaboration with Families, Providers, and Communities Supporting Those with Autism – 4 credits

Teaching Responsibilities

• Teach material from the approved curriculum in accordance with the assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
• Assist students in achieving the completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
• Provide regular and timely feedback to students, e.g. respond to emails within 24 hours and grade students’ assignments, giving substantive feedback.
• Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining contact with students and offering assistance to absent students.
• Advise students in matters related to academics and attendance.
• Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
• The adjunct will also carry out administrative responsibilities as directed by their department chair, e.g. maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies, timely submission of final grades, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a related field with at least 5 years of full-time work/clinical experience.
• Teaching experience in higher education preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiasm toward serving a diverse student population.
