Summary:
Adjunct faculty in the School of Education will teach education methods courses consistent with the faculty member's area of expertise. Additional responsibilities for this position include some or all of the following: professional service, cooperative extension, and administrative responsibilities. Your responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening or weekend duties. The School of Education may also provide you with a more specific set of job expectations. Department: School of Education: Education

Education/Experience:
Masters degree in a related field plus a minimum of two years public school teaching experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
Read, listen, and communicate information and ideas through spoken and written language.

Use various means of communication (e.g. telephone, computer, other electronic devices) to work with students and peers.

Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, service and technology application in the classroom.

Keep current in the field of Teacher Education.

Familiarity with instructional techniques designed to assist students of varying preparation levels and abilities.

Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of students.

Excellent communication skills are essential and a commitment to excellence in teaching, service and technology application in the classroom.

Ability to effectively utilize technology including WebExpress, Blackboard, and university electronic templates such as the syllabus template.

Demonstrated ability to teach and evaluate undergraduate students.

Working (or advanced) knowledge in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel

Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Physical Requirements:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, repetitive motions, and close visual acuity necessary. Position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to speak clearly and effectively for an extended period of time.

Essential Functions:
Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, or online in telecommunications courses and in immediate preparation for courses; maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught; preparing teaching materials; conferring with students on course materials; directing individual and group studies and practical; reviewing written or online examinations and papers; evaluating presentations; and supervising independent study projects.

Professional service implies the use of academic and professional expertise to serve your profession, the community, and the University.

Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 1,000 contact hours per academic year.

As part of Instructional Activity load:
o Prepare courses in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines and departmental requirements,
o Prepare and distribute course syllabi according to university and departmental requirements,
o Grade all assignments, quizzes, projects, and/or exams as described in the course syllabi,
o Meet with students (in person or virtual) as related to instructional activity,
o Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly,
o Participate in the assessment activities of the Department, Division, and University as directed.
o Administrative responsibilities include writing syllabi, grading course work, submitting final grades.

Student advising includes time spent meeting or online with students regarding academic, curricular and career matters.
