Administrative Assistant

The MFA program in Creative Writing seeks a part-time administrative assistant eager to help run the day -to-day operations of our online academic year degree program and to assist in the planning and organization of our three annual summer programs: the Summer Writers Institute, the MFA Graduate Residency, and the Summer Literary Series. The position can be primarily remote, but does require occasional presence on our Houston campus, including during the annual June in-person program.

Purpose of Job:

To provide administrative support for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Program in Creative Writing

Essential duties and responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be able to do the following:

• Field applicant and student questions about the program via email and phone.
• File and Process forms essential to the day-to-day operation of the program.
• Serve as an on-campus liaison between our remote faculty and UST campus offices.
• Help to plan our summer programming, including setting up on-campus and guest housing, travel reservations, catering, venue reservations, and payment processing.
• Be present as an ombudsman for on-campus events, including the summer programs.
• Assist in publicity and advertising for the degree and its various programs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software.
• Proficiency in University of St. Thomas software (PeopleSoft), preferred.
• Some experience in Marketing and/or managing conferences and events preferred.
