Administrative Assistant to High School Principal
Job description
JOB GOAL:
The Administrative Assistant will serve as on the leadership team and assist the principal in assuring the smooth and efficient operation of the High School Principal’s priorities of student achievement, staff climate, and systemic process efficiency for all HS stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promote good public relations by resolving student, staff and community concerns as they relate to the school environment, particularly in the areas of attendance and school climate.
- Under the direction of the Principal, facilitate the building's efforts to ensure collaboration between attendance, counseling and administrative personnel with that of community agencies that are seeking to resolve student difficulties.
- Provide project support and project management to the High School administration and Staff.
- Detail-oriented with ability to gather, analyze and utilize data to ensure that programs are achieving a positive academic return on investment, meeting desired outcomes, and that there is evidence of effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the organization and with all levels of employees.
- Proficient in use of technology, such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), and other software used in the District with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proven problem solving skills with the ability to work independently to resolve issues and manage complex problems as assigned.
- Work with High School Principal and Office Manager to plan, implement, and review the effective use of all High School Fiscal resources.
- Professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentially.
- Provide primary secretarial services for the Principal as necessary.
- Facilitates meeting agendas, logistics, and meetings.
- Prepare, edit, and manage correspondence, communications, reports, presentations, maintain building/department social media accounts, and other documentations.
- Obtain, organize, and enter pertinent data in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Establish and maintain records, filing and scanning systems.
- Serve as a vital liaison for communication involving staff, students, parents, community members and all other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct experience in personnel time management; proven ability to support and oversee projects and understand the diverse systems in which they work.
- Strong background working with diverse needs.
- Demonstrated ability in working in partnership with parents, community, and School Districts as part of a cohesive team.
- A high degree of patience to deal with work flexibility in daily schedule.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, understanding their needs and providing high-quality customer service, training, and technical assistance.
- Highly effective presentation, written, and communication skills.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year. Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the Compensation and Performance Evaluation Plan for School and District Leaders.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
Physical Demands:
100% physically active, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasional bending, crouching, stooping, twisting, reaching and grasping. Light lifting- up to 15 pounds. Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding.
Sensory Abilities:
Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screens. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephones. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
Temperament:
Ability to work as a member of a team. Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people. Must be cooperative, congenial, and service oriented. Ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to be flexible.
Mental Demands:
Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communications. Ability to function in fast-paced and high-pressure work setting.
