Job Overview:
SoCal Gas is looking for an individual with experience in clerical functions to support various work groups. We are in search of someone who has experience in administrative and clerical support. With pay starting at $36.57 / hr. we are offering comprehensive on-the-job training to become a safe and efficient Administrative Clerk; skills that will prepare you for a career with SoCal Gas. Current opening is in Chatsworth, CA.

Position Objective:
Perform a wide range of clerical functions, independently and as a member of a team, related to paving, permits, invoicing, and compliance in the Work Order Control department. Provide clerical support requiring advanced clerical skills to various work groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs various clerical functions requiring the exercise of independent judgment and analysis in controlling, maintaining, and developing office routines, records, and files.
  • Responsible for completion, progress, and compliance due dates for permits, paving, reconciliation, and invoicing.
  • Types letters, memoranda, and reports which may require extensive planning of layout, typing of complicated statistical tables, and similar non-routine work.
  • Conducts complex clerical investigations requiring the accumulation and analysis of variable data.
  • Controls, maintains, and develops office documentation, logs, and up-to-date procedures manuals for the duties assigned. Maintains Company Practices and Procedures Manuals.
  • Processes orders for materials and supplies and maintains related records.
  • On some assignments makes all necessary arithmetic calculations for a variety of reports and general record maintenance.
  • May maintain vacation schedules and absence records and prepare payroll reports.
  • Schedules and maintains logs for reservation of conference rooms. Arrange for special aids as required (screens, projectors, etc.).
  • Answers incoming calls and acts as a liaison on behalf of the Company for reconciliation and permit coordination.
  • Troubleshoots IDOC errors in CPD to perform reconciliation.
  • Responsible for updating service history and ensuring accuracy.
  • Operates photocopying machines. Operates computers for word processing and other business applications.
  • On some assignments, is accountable for accuracy and completeness of company records related to compliance with CPUC and DOT regulations. Maintains tracking systems to ensure the status of work in progress. Reports discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintains an organized workspace.
  • Performs various other equivalent or lower grade functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid California driver's
  • Requires experience and working knowledge of Word, Excel, and mainframe applications. (On some assignments may require Access, knowledge of graphic packages and other computer software programs.)
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills; basic math; ability to handle multiple demands and operate a calculator
  • Requires two years of administrative / clerical experience
  • Must pass pre-qualification and skills test – Typing 50 WPM
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
