Position Description

The Administrative Department Director is charged with supporting all candidates as they progress through the certification program by supporting the team members’ work and necessary licensing processes. This includes but is not limited to advocating for the work of the certification officers, managing the outputs of team members, and providing opportunities for feedback/coaching to improve efficiency and quality.


Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversight of the Administrative Department
  • Management of Certification Officer Accountability
  • Maintaining local education agency/state stakeholder relationships
  • Answering questions about the certification process (phone and email)
  • Progressing teacher candidates through the enrollment timeline, including licensure applications

Primary Objectives

  • Increase the efficiency and reliability of licensure issuance
  • Optimize the conversion funnel from “Enrolled” to “Hired” (Candidate Statuses)
  • Improve the perception and reality of the probability of teachers securing a job

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Oversight of the Administrative Department
    • Train Certification Officers to be responsive to candidate inquiries, certification status, and enroll to residency conversion
    • Create a structure to reliably cross-train Certification Officers
    • Lead evolution of team as changes and growth occur
  • Management of Certification Officer Accountability
    • Establish metrics for Certification Officers
    • Meet regularly with the team to ensure goals are being achieved
  • Maintaining local education agency records
    • Coordinate with candidate expectations of the certification process
    • Ensure proper licensure requirements of candidates throughout the program
    • Oversight of inbound/outbound communication through the enrolled status
  • Progressing teacher candidates through the enrollment timeline, including licensure applications
    • Process licensure applications for both temporary and standard licenses
    • Understand the process for multiple programs.

Job Requirements

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail

Experience/Education

  • Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in education/related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
