Note to Applicants: This is a remote position.

Job Summary: The Admissions Application Reader reviews and evaluates various application types for the University of Alabama's competitive awarding process.

Additional Department Summary: This position is responsible for reading and preparing notes summarizing key components of School of Law application materials.

Upon starting the position, the reader must attend one or two virtual training sessions that last 1-2 hours and that are held during the Admissions Office's normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00-4:45 Central). The reader should be able to participate in a virtual meeting once or twice a month for approximately one hour during the Office's normal business hours on an as-needed basis.

This is a seasonal position with most activity occurring in October through March. The reader is expected to have approximately 10-20 hours available per week. The amount of time required will vary from week to week with some weeks requiring only a couple of hours and some requiring the full 10-20 hours.

This is a remote/virtual position. The reader is expected to use their own computer and high-speed internet connection to access and review applications. It is preferable if the computer is of a relatively recent model with a processor effective enough to switch between applications easily. Because of the confidential nature of the work, this computer should be located in an area out of the view of others when used to access application materials and summaries and the internet connection should be secure.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.

Skills and Knowledge: The reader is expected to accurately follow extensive instructions while efficiently completing assignments. The ability to read quickly and recognize and compile key take-aways is important in this position. Great attention to detail is needed in this position. Strong reasoning ability and use of sound judgment are crucial.

This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong sense of personal responsibility and responsibility to the team (a team-player attitude), good interpersonal skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

Applications are accessed and notes are prepared in an online program. Therefore, a good knowledge of computer and computer program use is highly recommended.

The reader is expected to have strong time management skills. It is up to the reader to schedule time independently in order to complete tasks by the assigned deadline.

The reader is expected to keep all application information confidential. The reader should be diligent to maintain confidentiality in all situations. The reader should complete work in a secure location in which the computer screen cannot be seen. Additionally, a secure internet connection should prevent unauthorized access by others.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will not be an applicant to law school or an employee of another law school.
