Overview

Launched in 2020 by the University’s Metropolitan School of Professional Studies, the Tucson Program is delivered locally in partnership with Pima Community College, using a hybrid learning model (including the extensive use of experiential sessions with local employers) and will be targeted at those high school graduates who are 1st generation college students and/or are from under-represented social-economic groups. The position, located in Tucson, Arizona, is responsible for student recruitment and admissions support for the University’s Tucson Program. The Admissions Counselor will report to the Admissions Coordinator and will work with other team members to meet yearly recruitment goals and find new recruitment sources.

Gives presentations in assigned schools, community groups, and individual students and families. Functions as a University representative to officials, dignitaries, community members visiting campus. Represents Metropolitan School of Professional Studies with an engaging helpful, team-oriented demeanor consistent with the University’s mission and Roman Catholic character.

This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with Admissions Coordinator in a variety of recruitment related activities, including college fairs, high school visits, recruitment event planning, prospect tracking, prospect relations and follow-up through to first semester enrollment. Monitors the Catholic U - Tucson application system, assisting prospective students from prospect phase to submission. Provides advanced support to Tucson Program staff to include: providing customer service; answering, screening and directing phone calls; reviewing and responding to emails; maintaining calendar; preparing, drafting, and proofing reports, letters, forms and spreadsheets; coordinating travel arrangements; coordinating meetings and taking minutes; and assisting with events as needed. Maintains admission and confidential student records and files, creates and maintains spreadsheets, and ensures data is up-to-date for Admissions reporting and tracking in TargetX CRM system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and sales/customer service experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties above.
  • Understanding of recruitment, financial aid, and student experience/ assessments/ retention tools and techniques. Experience in a higher education work environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Tucson community. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Proficiency with Google Workspace, Excel and other databases, ability to quickly learn a new CRM
Communication Skills
Spanish language fluency (writing and speaking) preferred
Deep knowledge of the Tucson community
