Occ Summary
Part-time positions established to assist the staff in Undergraduate Admissions, Scholarships or the professional schools in performance of selected duties during seasons of peak activity. Perform a variety of duties in the recruitment and selection of student applicants for admission to Duke University.
Work Performed
Responsibilities include: Participate in a team effort to evaluate and select students for the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program. Each position reports directly to the Director of Recruitment and Selection. This is a seasonal position working from mid-October through February. Hours are flexible and the majority of work hours can be performed at home. The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program is a four-year leadership development program aimed at cultivating the next generation of transformational leaders. Robertson Scholars are provided with the unique opportunity to leverage the educational and co-curricular offerings at two leading institutions -Duke University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The award covers full tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, domestic and international summer enrichment experiences and up to two study abroad semesters. The admissions reader is a member of the admissions committee, and is required to sign a confidentiality agreement in accordance with Duke University policy.
Reading and evaluating the qualifications of prospective students utilizing established standards and guidelines.
Submitting evaluations for review by the Admissions Committee on a timely basis.
Attending regular admissions committee meetings
Participating and giving feedback on Admissions Committee decisions.
Bachelor degree required, graduate degree preferred. Prior admissions or scholarship experience is preferred.
Candidates must be a resident of the state of North Carolina and cannot simultaneously hold another appointment at Duke University or with a secondary school.

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
