Overview

SummitStone Health Partners is looking for a licensed, certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with diverse backgrounds and abilities, as well as a perspective focused on equity, inclusion, and belonging to serve a diverse and varied population experiencing multiple vulnerabilities.


This position will be based at the new and innovative acute care behavioral health facility, currently under construction and slated to open in the fall of 2023. SummitStone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture. This voter-approved facility will provide licensed, equitable and culturally relevant care and treatment to individuals in crisis with mental health and/or substance use disorders. This facility will serve anyone residing in Larimer County in need of urgent intervention. As an Advanced Practice Provider - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, the employee will provide direct professional services in the evaluation and treatment of clients in both the inpatient residential and outpatient environment at a community mental health center. The primary focus of this position will be substance use and physical health as it relates to the inpatient setting. Major responsibilities of this position include: function as the medical team representative to a multidisciplinary treatment team designed to offer comprehensive behavioral health services; evaluate patients for substance use and medical disorders, determine the appropriate course of treatment for the patients; ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team setting; and meet/maintain documentation standards and comply with county, state and federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to health care.

Experiences and Background We Look For

  • Required: Advanced Practice Nursing degree (APN) degree or Physician Assistant (PA) from an accredited university. DEA Certification with Colorado license to practice along with buprenorphine waiver. Demonstrated commitment and experience working with persons from marginalized communities and other patient populations experiencing vulnerabilities. Understanding and commitment to Medication Assisted Treatment and harm reduction principles.
  • Preferred: Spanish language skills. Other language skills also beneficial. At least 2 years' experience treating/servicing persons with substance use and mental health needs. Strong understanding of substance use treatment and knowledge of withdrawal management processes.

Wage Ranges

Based on a 40-hr. work week.

  • $102,613/YR to $159,050/YR
