JOB SUMMARY: Performs security officer tasks in accordance with job description and direction from the security supervisor. Acts as the first line of response and assistance for security measures on campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advanced Security Officer (A) Certified

• Current certification with a POST Basic Detention or Law Enforcement Certificate or higher level of certification.
• Currently in good standing or have completed service honorably (retired) with employing Law Enforcement or public safety entity
• Approved selection and background requirements from Bonneville County Sheriffs Office
• Completed BCSO training and IFCH training requirements for certified positions
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Identifies safety information and incidents that may need shared or communicated with staff and other security personnel. Completes written reports in reasonable time.
• Responds to calls for assistance, resolves safety concerns. greets customers and staff in entry areas
• Patrols and observes facility and campus.
• Ability to de-escalate situations, communicate with clarity and handle emotional situations with multiple people
• Ability to multi-task and communicate with cell phone, radio and computer.
• Knowledge of basic security protocols to check locks, entryways, parking lots and general facilitys for safety hazards
• General working knowledge of emergency protocols for evacuations and building safety functions.
• Ability to write basic reports and familiarity with basic security reporting and communication skills
• Reports to Security Supervisor and on duty hospital supervisor.
• Ability to complete, online training, classroom training and scenario based training as required.
• Ability to assess situations for safety risk and act appropriate to accepted standards for security.
• Ability to direct clients and visitors to appropriate areas of the campus
• Responds to emergencies and acts as a liaison with emergency services for on scene communication
• Observes and reports facility safety concerns to the security supervisor and staff for safety and maintenance concerns
• Assists with parking issues and traffic safety concerns on the campus and related properties

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: Meets requirements for Idaho POST certification / possesses current certification as a POST basic Detention, Correction or Law enforcement Officer or higher or equivalent as determined by Security Supervisor. Current approval from Bonneville County Sheriffs Officer meeting current contract requirements

Experience: Appropriate full time background or equivalent in public safety or enforcement agency consistent with security function.

Equipment/Technology: Ability to type and complete basic reports. Ability to safely operate security tools and technology including intermediate level defense, restraint and safety tools. Ability to safely operate advanced safety and peace officer tools including firearms and less lethal devices.

Language/Communication: Good communication and de-escalation skills. Able to accurately and succinctly communicate in order to maintain or re-obtain peace within the hospital.

Mathematical Skills: Basic

Mental Capabilities: Able to determine appropriate measures needed to asses needs for intervention from a security standpoint.

Interpersonal: Able to assist the medical personnel as requested. Also able to act as a resource and guide to the lower level security services.
