Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA Bus Drivers are the service staff responsible for safely operating YMCA buses and commercial vehicles, maintaining order at all times within the vehicle, and providing for the transportation needs of the Association’s program participants assigned to their routes. We need bus drivers to support our various locations:

  • Bob Sierra (Carrollwood Area)
  • Camp Cristina (Riverview Area)
  • Northwest (Town N' Country Area)
  • South Tampa

Approximate Working Hours

    Mon, 11:30 p.m. -2:30 p.m.
    Tue-Fri, 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Experience as commercial motor vehicle operator, or satisfactory completion of YMCA sanctioned driver training course including 30 hours of driving experience.
  • Able to work cooperatively with staff, children, and parents; establish and maintain proper conduct and safety of passengers on a school bus.
  • Knowledge and ability to think, act and react quickly; remain poised and composed under stressful circumstances and be able to manage emergency situations; able to safely load and properly dock, brace, and secure cargo; work independently, follow standardized practices and exercise extreme caution and sound judgement while operating a school bus.
  • Knowledge and ability to recognize mechanical safety hazards in and on a school bus.
  • Knowledge and ability to work in non-climate controlled areas and be willing to endure exposure to inclement weather.
  • This position requires a minimum age of 21 years old.
  • This position requires a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) w/ endorsements for driving a school bus.
  • This position requires the ability to possess a valid medical certificate, and/or be willing and able to submit to a medical examination for commercial driver fitness determination.
  • This position requires availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
