Coordinates and assists in the management of all operational needs associated with Greensboro Transit Agency’s Para Transit system. Direct accountability and oversight over all Para Transit Route Operators, Dispatchers and Supervisors during the morning (AM) shift. Provides supervision, counseling, coaching and the required resources to Para Transit Operators, Dispatchers and Supervisors to ensure service is consistently conducted in compliance with established Federal, State, and local laws. Enforces company policies and provisions while managing a team in a Union environment. Oversees scheduling of Operators, monitors operations and coordinates service delivery to ensure timely pull-outs and strict adherence to Para Transit schedules. The AM Lead Para Transit Shift Supervisor will work closely with the AGM of Operations, Para Transit Operations Manager, PM Lead Para Transit Shift Supervisor, both the Safety and Maintenance Managers to ensure that all safety, contractual, and operational requirements are being met.

· Ensure all Para Transit services and trips are met during the AM hours

· Track, compile and analyze Para Transit performance data (KPI’s) including LOT monitoring (pull out OTP) and timeliness to first pick-up

· Resolve employee issues and grievances

· Evaluates the work performance of direct reports

· Ensures the timely and efficient completion of all tasks

· Assists in accident / incident investigation, including any needed on-site assistance and support to safety and training personnel

· Coordinates with the safety and training department to ensure all safety goals and directives are met

· May be asked to operate a vehicle in revenue service, if necessary

· Maintains confidentiality of all information

· Assists with the establishment of schedules and recommends methods for providing Para Transit services

· Review and evaluate Para Transit manifests for efficiencies and ensure timely transfers

· Perform periodic evaluations of Para Transit personnel and work with employees to correct deficiencies and implement discipline when and where necessary

· Assist in the review and investigation of complaints regarding Para Transit operations; resolve problems in a timely, effective manner.

· Aids the Operations Manager or Assistant General Manager of Operations; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.

· Attend and participate in professional and civic organizations

Education, licensing and Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required

Higher Education achievement preferred

CDL holder or the ability to obtain CDL within reasonable amount of time as determined by AGM of Operations

Experience: Managerial experience with hourly employees with 3 to 5 years of Para Transit, Transit, NEMT, On-Demand or Airport Shuttle service supervisory experience preferred

· Managing experience in unionized environments 3 to 5 years

· 3 -5 years’ Experience management experience within FTA regulations and guidelines

· Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively influence people at all levels of your department

· Primarily AM shift (3:30am - until) applicant must be able to work flexible hours as needed

Skills Required:

· Experience with Trapeze and Transit Miner

· Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AVL Software

· Multitask in fast paced and high-pressure environment

· Familiar with basic vehicle mechanical systems including pre / post trip inspection procedures

· Proficient in proper wheelchair securement / tie down techniques

· Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

· Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills with ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels

· Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

· Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment

· Excellent customer service skills

· Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines

· Problem solving and analytical abilities

· Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to resolve conflict prior to escalation

· Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimal supervision

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers

· Ability to work flexible and varied work schedules including late night, early morning, weekends, inclement weather days, and holidays.

· Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of experience and training

· Public Transit Experience, preferred

· Prior dispatch/supervision experience, preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

· Use of full ranges of hearing, speech, and vision

· Stoop, crouch, squat or kneel when performing inspections of any type

· Stand while performing inspections and behind-the-wheel training

· Be subject to wet, cold or hot environmental conditions

· Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods, and be able to lift 35-50lbs

· Must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment
