Your role


1. Perform sample preparation and quantitation. Select best techniques and perform sample isolation/cleanup, LC(-MS) and GC(-MS) analysis, and data interpretation. Report results in timely fashion.

2. Serve as a group specialist for LC(-MS), ideally also for GC(-MS). Develop and document new analytical methods as required. Provide first line operation, routine preventive maintenance, daily verification, calibration and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments.

3. Provide technical support and consultation as requested to functional groups within Symrise. The primary focus will be the support of our Savory Business Unit, particularly analyzing non-volatile food/flavor components and maintaining shared analytical reports. Exhibit the ability to apply analytical tools, stability assessment protocols and forensic techniques to improve processes and capabilities.

4. Support the development of analytical methods and standard operating procedures, as necessary.

5. Assist in the training of laboratory personnel as directed by the supervisor.

6. Support continuous improvement activities.


About you

  • Master or PhD in Chemistry, Food Science or a related field
  • Experience in flavor or fragrance industry preferred. - Expertise in performing accurate, consistent and timely testing according to established methods
  • Demonstrated success in planning and managing analytical and organizational projects.
  • Able to work under pressure, determine priorities, organize resources and meet briefing timelines
  • Strong organizational ability with great attention to detail
  • Professional, clear, concise and effective communication in verbal and written format. - Proficient skills with Microsoft office, SAP and collateral QC computer systems
  • Based on subjective and objective results, able to recognize trends that may impact product quality or Symrise operational performance.
