To help us achieve our goals of being the “best in class”, we are looking for talented candidates like you to join our Administrative Law team. As an
Appeals Examiner Senior, you will maintain order and proper decorum as you fairly and impartially conduct administrative hearings related to UI benefits, which will involve reviewing case materials, researching laws, regulations, policies, and precedent decisions, determining the necessity of witnesses, and, if necessary, arranging for subpoenas to be issued.
A minimum three years of experience conducting administrative hearings and preparing and proofing case decisions is required.

Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, the qualified applicant will possess:
A minimum three years of experience conducting administrative hearings and preparing and proofing case decisions.
Extensive knowledge of the Virginia Unemployment Compensation Act and related rules and regulations governing eligibility.
Extensive knowledge of administrative procedures for conducting hearings, due process standards, and legal research methodology and terminology.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and oral and written communication skills.
Ability to conduct fair hearings and control the process, to ascertain and evaluate facts, and to read, explain, and apply related laws and regulations.
Ability to prepare and manage a caseload, conduct legal research, analyze information, compile and organize hearing proceedings into written report format, and write decisions based on hearing findings.
Ability to review the work of others, identify problems, and resolve issues.
Ability to work independently, as well as work effectively with the public, members of the business community, and other employees.

A law degree from an accredited college or university is highly preferred.
