SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, experienced, Architect to work full time for SJS Executives in Cherry Point, NC to help support operations at a Naval facility.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

The Architect must possess these key qualifications to be eligible for this position:

  • Professional Architectural Support: Bachelor’s degree in a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) accredited Architectural program or approved equivalent experience; and
  • 5 or more years of Architectural Experience with a minimum of one year experience working on facilities projects for a federal agency

Annual salary range for this position is $91,000 - $95,000. There will also include Sick time accrual (56 hours max), 11 paid Federal Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k.

This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation of detailed civil engineering analysis, calculations and designs, development of plans using AutoCAD, specifications, and cost estimates, in support of in-house and A/E design bid build and design-build projects, for a wide range of projects.
  • Engages in activities related to complete documentation management and/or documentation administration.
  • Typical design projects include Naval Shore Facilities, including multi-story offices and quarters, hospitals, towers, airfields, aircraft overhaul facilities, industrial waste treatment plants, piers, photovoltaic farms, training facilities and a very wide diversity of other structures and facilities.
  • Preparing detailed, scaled AutoCad and Revit drawings, reflected ceiling plans and elevations of buildings, utility components and systems to accurately dimension and document.
  • Analyzing architectural drawings and developing and following a system of proper AutoCad and Revit plan layers, for systems and components of building codes, major equipment, materials, placeholder furnishings and traffic patterns.
  • Communication of documentation maintenance & tracking using Microsoft Office Suite & AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Interpret and review provided architectural plans for concurrence to the Technical Information Library (TIL), standards and specifications as used for the basis of current construction and procurement package development.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems and issues.
  • Maintains in good order the Drawing Room that includes drawings, and plans, and project binders relating to various design and construction projects.
  • Assist in the management of documentation of archive and original building drawings for the medical center. Performs other administrative duties as assigned, such as providing documentation of existing plans, creating schedules and attending project meetings.
  • Performs Quality Assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by private architectural and engineering (A/E) design firms.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Architectural Support: Bachelor’s degree in a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) accredited Architectural program or approved equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years of Architectural Experience with a minimum of one year experience working on facilities projects for a federal agency
  • Experience in RISA, SAP2000, SAFE, SpecsIntact, MathCAD and AutoCAD/REVIT.
  • Ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Skilled in free form drawing and drawing to scale when on a job site measuring for a project.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials, vendors, and Contract Officers.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
