SRS is seeking an Asset Protection Investigator to join our ShopRite team! The primary area of concentration for the position is the safety of our customers, vendors and associates and the detection of theft through direct observations and electronic surveillance.

Reporting to the District Director of Operations and receiving direction from the Regional Asset Protection Supervisor this role is responsible for consistently executing company policy, procedures and standards to successfully protect company assets through their active partnership with the store management team within assigned stores.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Partners with store management to identify and address safety and security issues and compliance.
  • Detects and apprehends customers, associates, and vendors for theft in a professional manner consistent with company policy in order to protect assets.
  • Completes Asset Protection reports in a thorough, timely manner.
  • Represents the company in criminal actions as result of apprehensions made.
  • Participates in special investigations when assigned and partners with regional Asset Protection personnel as needed.
  • Processes individual apprehended for theft as described by company policy.
  • Brings loss vulnerabilities existing in any assigned store, along with recommendations, to the attention of Store Management and Regional Asset Protection Supervisor.
  • Complete assigned Asset Protection Audits in assigned locations.
  • Must have a good understanding of all positions within the company in order to be able to detect policy violations.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Adhere and comply with all store rules, company policies, safety requirements, security standards and all local, state, federal, health and civil code regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior retail security experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures.
  • Successfully obtaining required Security License.
  • Must have a good understanding of all positions within the company in order to be able to detect policy violations.
  • Must have basic computer skills with the ability to access e-mail, send attachments, etc.
  • Must be available to travel to store locations within assigned area.
  • Must be flexible to work days, nights and weekends, as required.
  • Must adhere to department dress code.
  • Ability to Travel is required.
  • May assist in training new store detectives, when requested to do so.
  • The associate must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 lbs. or more as a group lift.
