Job description
The Assistant/Associate Director of Annual Giving is one of 12 members of the annual giving team, reporting to the Associate Vice President for Annual Giving, and works as a field fundraiser soliciting high-end annual gifts between $1,000 and $10,000. The Assistant/Associate Director, Annual Giving will be expected to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at these levels. Such gifts will be sought primarily for the Lucile Packard Childrens Fund, which supports three essential aspects of the Hospitals mission: a commitment to provide medical care for any local child in need; funding for cutting-edge research in childhood diseases; and family and community services programs.
Due to Covid-19, employees of LPFCH (Lucile Packard Foundation for Children s Health) are currently working remotely, with the expectation of returning to the office within the next few months (subject to extensions as circumstances warrant). Once the office reopens, employees will transition to a hybrid work model. Please note that LPFCH has a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy and that all new employees must submit proof of their Covid-19 vaccination and booster vaccines at the time their employment commences. Alternatively, prior to commencing employment, new employees may request approval for accommodation for an exemption to the policy as permitted by law.
GENERAL POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with the Associate Vice President for Annual Giving to develop effective solicitation strategies for high-end annual donors through the Circles of Leadership program ($1,000-$9,999).
- Is responsible for creating and executing an annual plan to effectively steward, renew, and upgrade current donors at the $1,000-$10,000 levels.
- Works with current donors and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and successfully solicit a population of prospects who have the means and interest to make charitable gifts at this level annually.
- Works with groups of volunteers to help achieve the goal of increasing the number of donors giving at the Circles of Leadership level.
- Meets specific number goals in four key areas: upgrading current donors, generating gifts from new prospects, qualifying and handing off appropriate donors and stewarding leadership donors.
- Personal portfolio will focus on donors at the $5,000-$10,000 levels.
- Identifies, engages, cultivates, and successfully solicits a population of prospects who have the means and interest to make charitable gifts at this level annually.
- Generates such results either by soliciting prospects directly or through qualified volunteers.
- Maintains a high level of field and phone activity each week.
- Manages a prospect list of 150-200 individuals capable of making annual gifts at this level.
- Works cooperatively and strategically with development colleagues including the rest of the annual giving team as well as the large gifts, prospect research, stewardship, and donor relations teams.
- Becomes an expert representative on the various entities and activities that the Lucile Packard Childrens Fund supports as well as on other programs at the Hospital for which gifts are being sought.
- Recommends new approaches, procedures and processes to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
