The College of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time 1.00 FTE , 12-month, Fixed Term Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head as appropriate.

This position will teach in the Doctor of Pharmacy program in the College of Pharmacy at Oregon State University. The incumbent will develop a robust clinical practice that supports scholarship and teaching, as well as provides service to the University and the profession. This position will add to clinical faculty in the College with a passion for education and clinical excellence.
The OSU College of Pharmacy has two campuses. This position is located on the Portland campus, which is also closely affiliated with Oregon Health & Science University. Position Duties
40% Teaching
Teach primarily in the therapeutic and pharmacy practice sequences for third-year professional program students. Other teaching, particularly for Portland-based first- and second-year professional program students may be expected. Provide clinical instruction as a preceptor for clerkship students in the area of inpatient internal medicine.
30% Practice
Engage in clinical practice responsibilities that will advance pharmacy services, be appropriate for experiential education, and serve as a site for teaching and scholarship. Immediate opportunity is with the inpatient family medicine service at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. Opportunity to develop a secondary site depending on the candidate’s interests and expertise may exist.
15% Scholarship
Engage in peer reviewed scholarship. Seek external funding and disseminate scholarly work on an ongoing basis. Opportunities for collaborative research are available.
15% Service
Serve on college and university committees and contribute to the missions of Oregon State University and Oregon Health & Science University. Provide service to the profession
Minimum/Required Qualifications
All Ranks:
Pharm.D. degree from a school or college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
Completion of Post Graduate Year 1 residency and a Post Graduate Year 2 residency or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in oral and written English.
Eligibility for pharmacy licensure in Oregon required.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

For individuals seeking the rank of Associate Professor (Clinical): Candidate should meet the criteria for appointment at the desired rank as detailed by the OSU Promotion & Tenure guidelines. OSU will consider previous years of experience at other, similar institutions towards timelines for rank promotions.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical)
  • Evidence of teaching experience.
  • Previous faculty experience.
  • Certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.


Preferred Qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor (Clinical)
  • Sustained contributions to the peer reviewed literature and ability to secure extramural funding
  • A demonstrable commitment to the mentorship of junior faculty
