Assistant Banquet Manager (*Urgent Hiring*)

Job Description:

Entry level management position responsible for overseeing the Banquet functions and Restaurant area under the direction of the Banquet Manager, based on requirements and standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years' experience in the event management, food and beverage, or related professional area.

  • Upscale Banquet service and operations
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in Spanish helpful
  • Union experience helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Banquet Manager with the management, direction and organization of banquet activities, restaurant and bar areas, in order to ensure a successful function and repeat business.
  • Greet event host upon arrival.
  • Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, during the course of the function with the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staff, as well as the guest host to ensure timely execution of events, quality service, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.
  • Supervise all room setups and function flow.
  • Communicate all timing of food functions with kitchen and stewarding staff
  • Enter billing information into point of sale/automated sales system in order to generate a final guest check.
  • Post all banquet checks at end of day and turn in to Night Audit.
  • Train and counsel new service employees and established employees.
  • Administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Supervision of housemen during setup.
  • Supervision of wait staff during assigned functions.
  • Will assist with scheduling the Banquets Team.
  • Requisition of liquor prior to function.
  • Requisition of soda, dry goods and other storeroom items.
  • Assisting sales staff with proposed room setups and capacities.
  • Inspect Banquet rooms to ensure proper setup and cleanliness.
  • Communicate any urgent repairs to the Engineering department.
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness of all function rooms and storage spaces.
  • Flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends).
