The Assistant Clinical Educator, at the direction of the Director of Education/Clinical Liaison, is responsible for internationally educated nursing staff development as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent and team member. This is accomplished by the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education, and professional staff nurse development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Director with Nursing Clinical Education Program, including: development of curriculum o assembly of materials/equipment; creation and implementation of clinical simulation training scenarios; teaching orientation topics, and/or coordinating speakers; documentation of nursing clinical competencies
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide education programs in individual and small group settings.
  • Conducts individual skills assessment and analysis of nurses, identifying areas of strength/weakness in relation to assigned role/facility.
  • Assists Director in projecting and formulating a plan for meeting educational needs of staff, individually and/or by specialty area.
  • Monitors educational interventions and evaluates their impact on the learner(s) and/or the organization.

Qualifications o Required:

  • Minimum five (5) years of continuous, full-time or equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in an area of specialty. One (1) year of mentoring/teaching experience.
  • Required:Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing. Alternately, a candidate who holds an Associate of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in another field may be considered with a minimum of seven (7) years of continuous, full-time or equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in an area of specialty.
  • Preferred: Experience working with internationally trained nurses and/or healthcare simulation. Candidates with ICU or ED experience strongly preferred.
  • Required: Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc. Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory/accreditation agency standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal relationship, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work efficiently and maintain flexibility in an environment subject to numerous interruptions, e.g., multiple demands, inquiries, special project requirements, requiring critical deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to set goals and evaluate results in accordance with the highest standards. Ability to provide care with sensitivity and respect; advances care through development of new ideas and technology; understands and exceeds customer expectations.
