Job Responsibilities


  • Implements, manages and evaluates the programs, clinical services, staffing, and budgets of the county health department.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating clinical and administrative staff.
  • Manages staffing schedules and assignments.
  • Ensures required orientation and ongoing training requirements are met.
  • Provides educational opportunities that enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Oversees the provision of training for undergraduate and graduate health professions students, as assigned.
  • Ensures staff follow programmatic guidelines and regulations for all programs.
  • Assists the Clinical Nurse Manager in planning, implementing, and managing clinical services
  • Participates in community organizations and develops partnerships to advance the services and programs of the MBCHD, in consultation with the MBCHD Administrator
  • Compiles and submits data and/or reports upon request by the North Central Health District or DPH.
  • Oversees auditing and chart review processes.
  • Evaluates supply, equipment, medical and facility needs, and plans resources accordingly.
  • Provides direct patient care services as an expanded role nurse in accordance with DPH protocols
  • Participates in Nurse Manager meetings and contributes to District program goals and objectives.
  • Oversees and participates in emergency preparedness efforts in partnership with District and local agencies and stake holders.
  • Ensures sharps containers and other housekeeping procedures are adhered to according to the policy on precautions and management of exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of PHN experience AND Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree/diploma in Nursing from an accredited college AND Three years of PHN experience AND Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
