Position Summary:
Designs and implements recruitment strategies and admissions policies and procedures, in conformity with the School of Law's strategic plan. Responsible for the planning, administration, management, and execution of the law school's recruitment and admissions effort.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with Dean of the School of Law to design an effective recruitment strategy to meet admissions goals set by faculty and administration of the School of Law.
- Develops and manages the recruitment budget of the School of Law and manages Admissions Office to efficiently meet the needs of prospective law students, the faculty admissions committee, and the law school administration. Supervises personnel within Admissions Office.
- Directs, trains, and supervises Admissions Office personnel.
- Produces and manages the development of view book and other marketing publications, both electronic and hard copy.
- Develops and communicates to potential students detailed knowledge of law school personnel, programs, values, and strategic plan, as well as thorough information about housing, financial aid, the university, and the community.
- Develops a communication plan for timely and effective communication with prospective applicants, applicants, admitted applicants, depositors, and other internal and external constituents of the School of Law.
- Oversees management of the admissions and admitted student Web sites. Writes and edits content designed to increase awareness of the law school, the application process, and special programs directed at prospective and admitted law students. Creates adequate systems to ensure that site content is current, accurate, and consistent in style.
- Oversees the timely and effective processing and review of law school applications. Reads and evaluates all applicant files, in order to provide pre-evaluation and recommendations regarding applicant files to faculty admissions committee. Develops systems to identify applicants that merit special attention and review.
- Creates and runs historical and comparative reports for monitoring the progress and effectiveness of the School of Law's recruitment initiatives and enrollment management.
- Participates significantly and personally with and coordinates and supervises others (including student volunteers, faculty, and alumni, as well as subordinate employees) in recruitment programs and campaigns.
- Keeps current with and demonstrates knowledge of the programs and policies of the Law School Admissions Council, the American Bar Association, and the Association of American Law Schools, as well as the admissions programs and experiences of other law schools.
- Coordinates the recruitment program of the School of Law with the University's graduate and undergraduate admissions efforts, including collaboration for recruitment to the joint degree opportunities.
- Coordinates the recruitment program of the School of Law with the Financial Aid Office.
- Conducts analysis of scholarship programs to provide comprehensive information to guide the development of effective distribution of available funds, as well as fundraising efforts to assist the Admission functions.
- Develops effective relationships with prospective students and admitted applicants, pre-law advisors, current students, faculty, alumni, and others who may develop and influence prospective applicants to favorably consider attending the School of Law.
- Provides counseling and coaching to prospective students.
- Maintains relationships with matriculated students and alumni to further the goals of the School of Law.
- Oversees the development and administration of Student Ambassador Program.
- Works with the senior administrative team in coordinating the delivery of student services.
- Shares and promotes positive and productive ideas to facilitate the overall goals of the School of Law.
- Actively participates in the culture of the School of Law.
- Meets deadlines and adheres to admissions schedules and policies.
- Provides assistance and support to other departments within the School of Law and University.
- Assists with the design and management of an annual Orientation for incoming law students.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Dean of the School of Law.
