ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

JOB DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW
CGLA:
Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy is a single gender, small learning community for girls in grades 6-12. The college preparation curriculum is centered on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). CGLA offers girls an accelerated and integrated remediation approach that is intended to move them to proficient and advanced levels within core academic subjects. A range of social supports that reflects girls’ social development needs are integrated into the educational experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
GENERAL
o Responsible monitoring and recording student athlete academic and attendance eligibility requirements
o Establish and maintain good communication with parents, coaches, and athletes
o Oversee volunteer schedule for all home athletic events
o Responsible for maintaining the concession inventory
o Serve as a liaison between CGLA and the Cheer program
o Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and guidelines
o Other duties as assigned
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
o Responsible for ensuring all coaches meet training and certification requirements
o Evaluate, mentor, and provide leadership for coaches in assigned programs
PROGRAM
o Promote and recruit student athletes for all sports programs
o Assist Head Coaches with player evaluations and team placement
o Facilitate off-season player development opportunities
o Assist with the execution of summer programs/camps
o Organize and promote participation and attendance
ADMINISTRATIVE
o Responsible for the ongoing inspection of facilities and equipment utilized for each program
o Responsible for the inspection of team uniforms and equipment necessary for each program; assist with purchasing uniforms and equipment as needed
o Manage budgets for all assigned program
o Participate in all athletic department fundraisers
o Attend all meetings, events, clinics related to the promotion and participation in athletic programs
QUALIFICATIONS
o Bachelor’s degree (sports management, athletic administration, or related field preferred )
o Membership in state-level association for assigned programs
o Ability to work in a variety of environments to include indoor, outdoor and office settings
o Pass a criminal background check
o CPR/First Aid Certification

o Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members
o Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
o Committed to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students
o Maintain high personal standards and integrity
o Able to be a positive team-player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families
o Knowledge of NCAA, TSSAA and TMSSAA rules related to student participation and recruitment
COMPENSATION
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.
