About This Role:
The Assistant Director for Conferences and Event Services is a professional position that serves as part of the Housing and Dining Services team. This position will provide leadership and oversight for Housing and Dining Services (HDS) conference operations, guest housing, and event services for individuals and groups, internal and external to the university. HDS is a self-operated auxiliary department with approximately 325 full-time staff committed to creating an environment that fosters diversity, leadership, academic success and personal growth for our K-State Students. This live out position reports to the Associate Director. The desired start date is early February 2023.

Duties and responsibilities include:
Directs the operations of HDS on-campus conference services. Coordinates with departmental functional units, the support services needed for successful conferences.
Oversees program budget and established benchmarks for success.
Actively engages with current and potential clients to expand summer conference business opportunities.
Coordinates all aspects of bidding, negotiation, contracting, assignments and billing using IRIS conference management software.
Assist Coordinator for Conference Services and Guest Housing with guest housing for individuals and groups in the residence halls and Jardine Apartments throughout the year.
Works closely with 12-25 conference student staff and provides direct supervision to one part-time Events Coordinator (graduate assistant) and hourly student staff.
Oversees reservations for departmental event spaces using IRIS to contract, manage and bill for services.
Coordinates and engages with campus partners to ensure accountability and compliance with campus policies, including the minors on campus requirements.
Performs other duties as necessitated by business needs.

What You'll Need to Succeed: Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, event management, or related field.
Experience in community living, leadership development, programming, teaching or training.
Experience in conference and/or event management.
Effective oral and written communication skills that address the needs of various constituencies.
Ability to collaborate and build networks to achieve and enhance the mission and goals of the position, department, and university.
A global perspective that values different points of views, cultures, and beliefs.

Other Requirements:
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Valid driver's license upon employment.
Ability to work irregular hours, including some evenings and week-ends. Will serve as part of on-call crisis response team during designated parts of the year.
