The Financial Aid Department is responsible for day-to-day school operations in the areas of financial funding and student satisfaction. The Financial Aid Officer will ensure that financial aid policies and procedures are followed systematically and effectively across different departments and functions. They will oversee and participate in interviewing prospective students and working with each enrolled student to ensure that every student receives the best financial aid award package possible. The Financial Aid Officer supports the institution’s audit and reporting activities.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Checks NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System) to determine applicant/student’s default status.
- Uses ED Connect and ED Express software to package, originate, and print disbursement lists for grants and direct loans.
- Releases disbursements in a timely manner according to school policies and procedures and Title IV regulations.
- Keeps up to date with all the Federal Financial Aid Regulations (FSA Handbooks)
- Conducts professional judgment and verifications as needed.
- Upholds highest integrity and ethics when dealing with students.
- Maintains confidentiality of information per applicable Federal and Local regulations.
- Issues authorization forms, invoices, and correspond with different referring agencies
- Prepares drop packages for withdrawn students in conjunction with the Business Office Reconciles disbursement records and other accounts on a monthly basis
- Manages federal and state reporting requirements (SSCR, DLSAS, NSLDS, etc.)
- Maintains records for the financial aid candidates as required Schedules and conduct departmental meetings
- Supervises and maintain the overall efficiency of the financial aid department.
- Conducts other duties as assigned.
