The Assistant Distiller/Distiller role encompasses all aspects of production from the intake of raw materials to the finished product being bottled, providing support to the Master Distiller and Directors. This position is involved in the production, packaging, aging, and blending of spirits at the Fierce Whiskers. Teamwork is key, as well as living the vision and culture of the Distillery.

The position will be paid competitively with opportunities for additional benefits. Success will be measured through favorable reviews and the ability to meet stated objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the hands-on production of consistently high quality whiskey and bourbon, including handling raw materials, mashing, fermentation, distilling, cask filling & bottling
• Assist in the packaging of all spirits to include labeling, bottling, packaging and sorting
• Gain general knowledge of all recipes & flavor profiles for each spirit
• Work with the Master Distiller to ensure that flavor profiles are correct and what to do to correct the profile to ensure a consistently high quality
• Must be willing to learn & follow all aspects of operations, set up, change, clean & run all equipment used in production
• Record keeping – accurately collect & record data
• Other Skills and Abilities
• Familiarity with alcoholic beverage production techniques (distillery, brewery, winery, etc.)
• A passion for craft spirits and farm-to-table driven food program
• Knowledge of safe laboratory working practices
• Good communicator, articulate and friendly
• Ability to work in a multi-skilled dynamic environment
• Self-starter, high level of initiative
• High level of computer literacy (emails, web, Excel, Word, Social Media)

Job Requirements

• 2+ years in a production environment. Preferably in brewery, distillery, or winery
• Chemistry or science knowledge / background is essential
• Ability to communicate and receive technical instructions (verbal and written)
• Writing and math skills necessary to accurately complete dilution calculations, volume, weight, pressure, alcohol content, and other unit conversions
• Mechanical aptitude – knowledge of machinery and systems
• At least 21 years of age
• Physical Requirements

Fierce Whiskers is a working distillery. Conditions can range from warm in the summer to cold in the winter.

• Hours may vary from morning to evening, weekdays and weekends, based on production schedules and special events. 24/7 Operational Facility
• Ability to tolerate standing for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry items/boxes up and down stairs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
