The Club at Osprey Cove, managed by Bobby Jones Links, provides a pace for its members that’s as peaceful or as active as they desire. Members can play a round on Osprey Cove’s nationally recognized 18-hole golf course, relax by the pool at the River Club, set up their serve on the tennis courts, or participate in a group fitness class. If this sounds like a culture you’d like to be a part of, Bobby Jones Links is hiring an Assistant Golf Professional. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of the club’s annual golf budget and financial goals.
  • Assisting with the Bobby Jones Links ProfitMaker labor scheduler and recording all expenses on the Bobby Jones Links ProfitMaker expense tracker.
  • Completing an accurate inventory count each month and has a firm understanding of cost of goods sold.
  • Operating the golf department within the budgeted payroll and making adjustments to it as sales increase or decrease.
  • Ensuring the pro shop, cart staging area, driving range, and cart storage area presentation and appearance is always clean, pleasing to the eye, and impeccable in its presentation.
  • Assisting with a monthly golf staff meeting that covers training, customer service, monthly progress, and basic financials that pertains to the entire golf department.
  • Assisting the Head Golf Professional in planning, promoting, and directing all golf activities.
  • Providing golf lessons to all members and guests, overseeing the instruction program at the club.
  • Developing and conducting junior golf clinics.
  • Maintaining all logs (comp, rain check, monthly range, etc).
  • Assisting in the hiring and training all golf personnel.
  • Recognizing exemplary associate accomplishment through the rewarding of Grand Slam awards.
  • Following all State, Federal, and Bobby Jones Links rules in regard to human resources including such key policies as hiring and firing, discrimination, and harassment.
  • Working directly with the club’s golf committee to maximize communication and execution of their priorities.

Required Skills

The Assistant Golf Professional of a Bobby Jones Links club must have the following skills:

  • The ability to lead people and build cohesive teams working toward a common goal.
  • The ability to provide exemplary member and customer service.
  • The ability to proficiently use Excel, Word, and club point of sales systems.
  • The ability to develop and manage budgets and other financial worksheets.
  • The ability to read and understand financial statements including balance sheets and income statements.
  • A thorough working knowledge of the club’s golf operation.
  • Significant experience in the club business.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • Walk and or stand for long periods of time, sit, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.

  • Be exposed to outside weather conditions including temperatures over 90 and below 40 degrees.
  • Work near: moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.
