Pay Rate & Benefits:

$31,200 Annually, Paid Annual Leave, Sick Leave & Holidays. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System.

Schedule:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Schedule includes a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. This library is open 7 days a week. Work schedule will vary, and flexibility is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Outreach Manager in identifying and implementing relevant outreach strategic locations through the service area.
  • Coordinates programming for a variety of age groups (kids, teens, and adults) at off-site locations to encourage positive use of the library.
  • Demonstrate creativity, openness to new ideas, knowledge of a variety of tools and techniques, flexibility and a sense of humor to create
    interesting and engaging programs.
  • Relate positively to a diverse population, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and assist the public directly as an active
    member of the public service team at the library system.
  • Deliver quality customer service, greeting the public in a welcoming, professional manner.
  • Prepares publicity for programs and services through print designs and online via social media.
  • Maintain and report statistics related to off-site programming as required.
  • Actively solicit feedback through evaluations and surveys from program attendees, library cardholders, and the community to determine
    off-site programming needs and needed improvements to off-site library programs.
  • Works with Outreach Manager to keep all library staff aware of outreach activities.
  • Communicates activities, progress and ideas regularly with supervisor.
  • Document and preserve library outreach success with photos and narratives.
  • Attend professional conferences, workshops, meetings, and webinars to stay abreast of trends in librarianship in regard to outreach.
  • Understand and adhere to the mission, values, and vision of the library organization and maintain current knowledge, trends and
    development through continuing education.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience; 1 year job related experience; preferably working in a library or with the public in a customer service or retail field; 1 year job related experience in program or event planning and/or working with youth; Bilingual ability is a plus in serving a diverse community

  • Ability to perform basic math and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work with others in a variety of circumstances; to deal tactfully with staff and the public; to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff
    and the public.
  • Ability to understand and perform library procedures.
  • Ability to set and complete goals, tasks and projects, demonstrating project management.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Scheduling includes a combination of daytime, evening and weekend hours. Work schedule will vary and flexibility is required. The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs’ functions require periodic lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling and/or crouching; standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time; manipulate and lift up to 50lbs. Duties require prolonged use of computer screen display and keyboard, as well as using hands to finger, handle, or feel materials. Work performed in a climate controlled environment and outdoors.
