SpecChem, LLC supplies and services the concrete distributor network with quality construction chemicals that provide performance and value to the industry.

We are seeking an intelligent, energetic, experienced candidate for a full-time Assistant Plant Manager position in our Harleyville, SC facility.

The ideal candidate for this position has outstanding leadership, people, and problem-solving skills, thinks innovatively, and constantly strives for excellence and improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Plant Manager in plant operations and oversight of production, maintenance, quality, shipping and receiving, and other production-related activities.
  • Assist Plant Manager in management of all associates within the facility.
  • Shared responsibility with Plant Manager for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the facility.
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental leads to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Other duties as dictated by business need.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or three years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Quick learner, team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and analysis at high skill level.
  • Superior decision-making ability.
  • Detail oriented and quality minded.
  • Able to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have a passion for excellence – do great work.
  • Prior industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a background check, pre-employment physical exam, and drug screen.
