Job description
The School of Education at Florida Southern College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position with half-time instructional responsibilities coordinating the Master of Education in Educational Leadership program, reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Education, and beginning August 2023. This program serves students seeking a Level 1 credential in a year-round, hybrid environment. The program seeks applicants with experience and expertise in school leadership and administration.
The incumbent will be an active faculty member of the FDOE- approved Educational Leadership program and may be required to teach in other SOE programs based on the needs of the School and the College. Candidates must demonstrate promise of scholarly productivity, excellence in teaching in diverse settings, and a commitment to supporting the goals and initiatives of the College and the School of Education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for program leadership activities including supervising faculty schedules, leading student recruitment activities, student advising, community outreach, and working with the dean's office to support accreditation efforts. They will also have an active program of research; be responsible for teaching online and F2F courses in the program; and provide service to the School and College and professional organizations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide both classroom-based and clinical instruction in the Educational Leadership program and other programs as needed to meet the needs of the SOE and Florida Southern College.
2. Oversee the FDOE requirements for Educational Leadership certification for all relevant SOE programs
3. Maintain positive relationships and active collaborations between the College and local school district communities serving the Educational Leadership program
4. Oversee ongoing curriculum and program improvements through curriculum development, review, and revision utilizing student assessment and outcome data and input from faculty, program graduates, and external stakeholders/employers to identify and respond to areas of demand and to seek out new areas of strength
5. Oversee student recruitment and retention efforts
6. Recruit, schedule, mentor, and evaluate faculty
7. Provide advising and mentoring for students to advance student success
8. Engage in research and/or scholarly activities
9. Engage in professional and community service
10. Participate in faculty governance through service on Program, School, and College committees.
11. Contribute to a learning environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS
1. Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership/Administration (degree must be from a regionally university)
2. Evidence of three years of licensed, successful P-12 teaching experience.
3. Certification in the State of Florida Educational Leadership (active or eligible)
4. Demonstrated record of P-12 administrative experience.
5. Evidence of successful leadership experience in an academic community, including budgetary and scheduling experience.
6. Knowledge of relevant accreditations.
7. Demonstrated record of effective teaching, supervision, and mentoring; research and creative activity; and professional service.
8. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
9. Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders.
10. Evidence of promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Excellent record of college/university teaching experience and student supervision
2. Leadership experience in higher education, including evidence of organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
3. Leadership as a site-based P-12 school leader
