POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Vice President, Children s Health Service Line is an integral part of the service line leadership team and provides administrative leadership to the health system s pediatric programs. The AVP works with internal and external stakeholders to build and manage nationally recognized programs of excellence that deliver safe, evidenced based, patient centered, and efficient care.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages, in partnership with physician leaders and through matrixed relationship with medical group and hospital site leadership, assigned clinical divisions and programs. Identifies and addresses operational issues in hospital and office-based settings.
  • Provides leadership to development of service line and clinical services strategic plans. Identifies, evaluates and implements new programs. Enacts strategic plans.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPI) in quality, access, patient satisfaction, growth, productivity, academics and finance for service line divisions and programs. Achieves KPI targets and holds teams accountable for doing so.
  • Develops financial plans for new programs and providers. Develops and monitors annual budgets and acts to achieve productivity and financial targets. Oversees revenue-cycle activities and identify opportunities for expense reduction.
  • Provides administrative leadership to the development and analysis of new models of care and their implementation.
  • Supports recruitment and onboarding of providers, ensuring timely and expert execution of both.
  • Develops provider compensation models to be used across similarly situated physicians.
  • With physician and hospital partners, leads achievement of program recognition through Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons and other accreditations and ranking in US News and World Report Best Children s Hospitals survey.
  • Actively engages staff. Provides mentorship and personal development opportunities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication relationships with all internal and external service line stakeholders. Promotes and builds strong relationships with physicians throughout the organization and the community.
  • Works with Marketing and Communications Dept to develop and execute plan for building public and medical community awareness of the program.
  • Collaborates with RWJBH Foundation leadership to identify opportunities for new gifts and grants, participates in the cultivation and stewardship of current and future donors, and effectively utilizes funds previously raised.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years progressive experience in managing and leading clinical programs.
  • Knowledge and experience performing financial management, strategic planning and implementation, business/program development, process improvement, outcomes measurement, reporting, and human resource management functions.
  • Financial and operational analytical skills required, including profit and loss, reimbursement analysis, business trends and process analysis, and identification of system weaknesses.
  • A proven ability to build consensus and motivate teams of diverse, multidisciplinary, and multi-departmental stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively at all levels of a complex organization.
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner that is comprehensible to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to utilize metrics and technology in a way that drives excellence, supports operations and facilitates integration across a historically disparate organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in business or health administration
  • Management experience in pediatric services and academic medicine setting preferred
  • Leadership of physician practices preferred
  • Experience with physician compensation planning
