Responsibilities


The Assistant Vice President Wellstar Medical Group Practice Improvement (AVP) has key responsibility for supporting and enhancing care delivery through a high-performing medical group. This position will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Ambulatory Division Wellstar Medical Group (WMG). The AVP is an experienced leader who can create and implement a managerial construct to launch and complete multiple concurrent improvement activities.

The individual in this role will be the leader of lean engineering and practice for WMG. The AVP will utilize expert project management skills to manage strategic implementations across a large, complex multi-practice medical group. This leader utilizes traditional PDSA methods as well as innovative problem-solving to address gaps and improve clinical care. The AVP will partner with operational leaders directly to implement and operationalize action plans.

The AVP will have oversight to clinical workflows across service lines and specialty areas. The AVP will identify opportunities to improve policies and procedures taking into consideration cultural and workforce readiness elements. This individual will work with a team to lead improvements in a methodical, consistent manner.

Optimization of online and digital appointments, movement of patients across the continuum of care and operationalizing and use of patient engagement tools to recruit and retain patients will be a key focus for this leader, to include analysis of clinical demand and market access points. This leader will partner with operations and clinical leadership to determine workforce optimization opportunities. Planning includes partnership to create training and development plans for staff to ensure high-quality care in delivered in a compassionate,
patient-focused manner. In addition, the AVP will lead initiatives for EPIC optimization and policy and procedure standardization.

The AVP actively participates in WMG Operations Committee along with physician leaders to facilitate process improvement and cross-functional standardization. This will result in streamlined operations across the Wellstar Medical Group, improved care delivery models and enhancement of the overall patient experience at Wellstar Health System.


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education:
  • Master’s degree in business, health administration, or related field required.
Required Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the healthcare, engineering or medical industry.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive healthcare administration experience.
  • Significant experience in a large complex multi-practice medical group or a multi-hospital system.
  • Demonstrated success and expertise in PDSA cycle and quality enhancement and implementation of digital appointments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple initiatives concurrently including complex financial project direction and complex project plans.
Required Minimum Skills:
  • Ability to influence positive and sustainable change in an urgent and fast-paced environment required.
  • Success in lean engineering and process management.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for multi-site medical practice operations.
  • Understanding and ability to reconcile clinical demands, including volume/visit analysis and patient access.
    Superior project management skills with demonstrated success at managing multiple complex
    projects.
  • Strong interpersonal qualities and the demeanor and style to quickly establish credibility in the organization.
  • Superior physician relation building skills and strong collaborator across disciplines.
  • An ability to organize and present data in a concise and easily understood manner, often to professionals, physicians and board members.
  • The ability to use data to create accountability structures to drive success.
  • Proven success in accumulating and analyzing appropriate data and formulate actionable plans to achieve goals.
  • A comfort with a competitive and complex healthcare market.
  • Experienced with change management, ability to navigate a "traditionalist" mindset and has a comfort level with integrating these attributes of the culture in planning for the future business of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to represent the Wellstar Health System in formal and informal settings.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the willingness to take the initiative in leading change as well as the ability to effectively manage change.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to patient experience as a necessary component for success.
  • A management philosophy and behavior which exemplifies integrity and strength of character, people sensitivity and respect for others, collaboration and team building, sense of humor,
