Associate Communications Manager, Beauty and Style
Job description
The Associate Communications Manager for Beauty & Style develops and executes strategic plans to build overall brand awareness, and consumer and trade media awareness of Brides, Byrdie, InStyle, SHAPE, and the Dotdash Meredith Beauty & Style group and its editors, overall. This position proactively promotes the daily editorial content of each publication, maintains media relationships, and develops and distributes pitches, photos and video assets. The Associate Communications Manager strengthens visibility of editorial and publishing spokespeople and leverages current industry events and trends to create media opportunities. The incumbent partners with the revenue team to develop public relations strategies that yield results that can be leveraged for marketing and sales purposes.
About Your Contributions:
- Has a top-tier media database and extensive personal contacts across entertainment, lifestyle, fitness and beauty media, with a special emphasis on national and regional television, and entertainment media
- Develops consumer pitches for daily content and tentpole projects, and collaborates with brand and business teams to craft trade pitches to elevate the brands and their editors.
- Proactively pitches brand content daily, and develops and strengthens relationships with consumer online and broadcast media as well as industry trade contacts
- Has experience in the planning and coordination of celebrity red-carpet events.
- Has experience in TV segment production, researching and writing talking points, and preparing editors and executive-level brand spokespeople for media opportunities.
- Responds to media inquiries in a timely manner. Provides copy, backlinks, visual assets, and coordinates interviews as appropriate.
- Collaborates with editorial/creative teams to access the appropriate assets for media outreach.
- Collaborates with Director on crafting and executing media strategies for tentpole projects and events
- Develops relationships with brand editors, and a thorough understanding of the brands and their content to ensure proper positioning in the marketplace and in public perception.
- Assists with comprehensive tracking of brands’ media coverage and editor appearances

About You:
- Bachelor’s degree; focus on communications, PR, journalism or marketing preferred.
- 4-6 years public relations experience.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of the news media and effective media relations practices.
- Solid media connections with both major consumer and trade media.
- Working familiarity with social and online media.
- Strong product knowledge.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Strong knowledge of software including Muckrack media database, Excel, Word, etc.
Pay Range: $67,000 to $87,000
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
