Job Summary:
GentiBio is seeking a Director/Associate Director to expand our technology into new therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will be a key leader and drive research based on GentiBio’s EngTreg platform. This individual will report to the Senior Director, Research and will lead a team responsible for exploring novel applications of our platform in an array of gastrointestinal disease areas. They will have the responsibility for the direction and execution of projects from development of therapeutic hypotheses through to assay and model development, target ID and validation, and drug discovery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive research program with an external partner to advance and nominate clinical development candidates in the GI disease area
- Provide scientific leadership for the discovery team
- Develop new toolkits and biological models to explore novel applications in gastrointestinal disease areas
- Ensure strong collaboration with other teams, in order to maximize impact of innovations
- Design and execute experimental plans that inform and enable project progression, supervising internal efforts as well as working with external vendors
- Lead and develop colleagues using effective coaching and mentorship to maximize performance, engagement, and scientific growth
Qualifications and Education:
- PhD in a relevant area of biological science, with 10+ years of experience
- Demonstrated track record of leading discovery teams and successfully bringing discovery projects to development candidate and IND milestones
- Developing innovative assays and methodologies and translating novel biological insights into therapeutic targets in a creative way
- Experience in the areas of immunology and autoimmunity
- Experience in gut immunology is a plus
- Proven ability to lead research, collaborate effectively, and lead a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to clearly convey complex messages to many audiences
