An independent state agency, the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) mission is to be the agency of record for Massachusetts health care information, to responsibly steward sensitive and confidential data, and to objectively report reliable and meaningful information about the quality, affordability, utilization, access, and outcomes of the Massachusetts health care system.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Associate Director will oversee all aspects of the office environment and lead initiatives to enhance the Agency’s culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Associate Director will support CHIA’s vision for an empowered, effective, inclusive workforce that represents the diversity of the Commonwealth and is a nurturing environment where all employees can perform at their best to serve the Commonwealth, the agency and themselves by focusing on two key areas 1) the office environment and 2) culture, diversity inclusion and equity.
CHIA has a hybrid work environment, this position is expected to work in-person at the Center’s 501 Boylston Street office, on at least three (3) designated days each week. The selected candidate must have the ability to work additional days in-person as needed, including periodic weekend hours.
Specifically, the Associate Director will:
Office Environment:
Provide hands on day-to-day oversight and management of the office environment; ensuring a safe, positive, and productive environment where employees have the necessary resources to perform at their best.
Key duties include:
Manage the operations team, comprised of an office manager and receptionist.
Manage relevant vendor procurements and contracts inclusive of meeting vendors onsite and at off hours as needed for repairs and installations.
Manage and forecast supply and equipment budget; and identify cost saving areas, efficiency and reporting.
Ensure safety and security of staff by maintaining and communicating security protocols, evacuation plans, emergency preparedness and fire safety, first aid and CPR readiness.
Develop new and revise outdated policies, procedures and forms as required.
Assist the Chief People officer with lease negotiations, if needed.
Manage relocation and coordinate the build out and renovation of office space, if needed.
Maintain office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.
Work with agency staff on workspace accommodations.
Lead special projects as requested.
Culture, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:
Develop and lead initiatives to enhance the agency culture focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Key duties include:
In partnership with the Chief People Officer, internal and external experts, the Associate Director will develop, execute and report on annual diversity, equity and inclusion plans and priorities.
In partnership with the Chief People Officer, the Associate Director will develop and execute and report on Affirmative Action plans and priorities.
Facilitate in-person and online opportunities for employee engagement, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Develop and facilitate in-person and online programming to support CHIA’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Develop and execute internal communication strategies to enhance employee engagement and knowledge of Agency and Commonwealth benefits and resources.
Draft and implement recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
Support initiatives related to enhancing the hybrid workplace and future of work.
Support hybrid work policy development and evaluation.
Track, analyze and report on key metrics.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts degree in Management, Human Resources, or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the required degree.
3-5 years of experience working in DEI, human resources, office management or similar role.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders in an aspirational and inspirational way that brings everyone along.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage vendor relationships
Ability to effectively manage budgets and projects
Fluency with SharePoint, Teams, Excel and Outlook.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to exercise a high degree of independent initiative in overseeing assigned projects and completing projects timely.
Knowledge of best practices related to workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and outcomes.
Experience working on a variety of diversity initiatives.
Ability to analyze and present data and summarize findings.
Special Requirements:
The incumbent will exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and lift up-to 30 pounds.
Ability to work in-person at the Center’s Boston office as needed, including periodic weekend hours.
Many elements of this job are desk based, but the employee will also be required to move throughout the office.

This position will remain open until filled. The anticipated full-time salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000 commensurate with experience.
