Our client, a large hospital in the Boston, MA area, has a need for an Associate Operations Director for Gift Donations to join their team. Must be a local candidate as they are not offering relocation assistance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Participates and leads the gift processing team members (2) in the timely processing of all gifts into the Development database
  • Ensures that gift booking and reporting policies reflect current state and federal laws for charitable gifts and endowments and adheres to CASE and AFP reporting guidelines
  • Advise Development staff on gift accounting and recommend solutions to complex gift issues
  • Oversee the pledge reminder process by ensuring pledge reminders are appropriately tagged in the database, reports are accurate and timely, and a normal cadence of operational and front-line meetings are followed to determine strategy for past due pledges
  • Conduct routine gift audits for daily deposits and monthly closes and assist Finance with fund/gift audits and reconciliations, as needed
  • Participates and leads the fund management process to include fund creation and establishing financial relationships and processes are in place to secure gifts to new funds
  • Liaise with Finance on gift, grant, and fund issues
  • Assist in the management of acknowledgment letter templates, solicitation forms, etc. ensuring appropriate legal, ethical and financial language is incorporated
  • Assist fundraisers in the creation of pledge agreements ensuring they meet requirements for multi-year commitments, endowments, and naming opportunities to meet legal, ethical, and financial standards
  • Work with the Foundation Relations and Government Grants team and Research Operations to ensure adequate pre- and post-award grant tracking
  • Partner with the Information and Ops Manager for data appends and ongoing data integrity projects
  • Act as an expert resource regarding the usage of restricted gifts, and surface issues that impede the fulfillment of donor intent
  • Develop and socialize training resources tailored to enhance staff understanding of gift agreements, funds management, and other areas of gift compliance
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of policies and procedures governing gift booking, reporting, acknowledgment, and receipting
  • Keep abreast of applicable laws, hospital policies, and best practices governing all aspects of the gift booking process

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree required, with preference to Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum five years of experience in gift operations
