Position Overview
The Entry Control Monitor (ECM) is responsible for managing security requirements for all entryways, access points and exits. Additionally, the ECM will maintain entry control documentation for the Government and facilitate badging for personnel requiring access to the facility and provide assistance in the location of assigned personnel using automated and manual desktop systems, communications and applications.
In the course of their duty, ECM’s must observe HVAC, fire and water alarm systems 24/7/365 and will notify appropriate Space Force agencies, assist if requested by responding agencies for on-call personnel, and notify appropriate personnel of emergency situations in accordance with governing directives, guidance and policies. ECMs will monitor alarms daily and respond within local guidance for alarms.
The ECM will report all unusual or suspicious circumstances regarding ADPE/Information Systems equipment, security systems and the facility to Government security personnel and report any suspicious activity or packages within 5 minutes of notification.
ECM’s document and maintain computerized activity logs for all reportable events and activities daily, conduct visual checks of the facility every four hours or when systems fail to inspect for mechanical or environmental engineering defects. Entry Controllers record facility checks of the internally controlled area doors by annotating the Standard Form 701, Activity Security Checklist and Standard Form 702, Security Container Checklist for the building. Non-duty hour checks (1800 to 0530) shall be conducted and logged every four hours. Furthermore, ECMs maintain the CISF Facility Alarm System and Access Entry Control Systems and ensure AF agencies are notified if any irregularities are identified for the building.
Entry controllers will report any equipment or applications problems or faults for the building, including heating or cooling alarms, security alarms, as well as personnel security incidents to Government.
Primary Responsibilities
- Facilitate the authorized entry of approximately 1000 visitors per month
- Provide operational security support and monitor physical security
- Account for personnel who are authorized entry into building
- Maintain a safe and secure facility at all times by performing random ID verification of permanent employees, 100% ID verification of visitors and random baggage searches of all personnel entering the facility
- Conduct a minimum of six exterior perimeter walks between the hours of 1800 and 0530, verifying the security of all exterior doors and gates
- Conduct a minimum of six interior perimeter walks daily, verifying the security of all interior doors and proper storage of classified materials
- Monitor the temperature alarm system(s) verify the operation of the cooling systems ensuring Internally Controlled Areas (ICA’s) are properly temperature controlled
- Utilize coded alarm systems, video surveillance equipment, and Automated Entry Control System equipment to ensure only authorized personnel gain access to the facility
- Monitor the operation of Info Graphics Intrusion Alarm Systems and Access Entry Control Systems
- Verify all personnel entering the facility are authorized to do so by verifying a current Visit Authorization Request (VAR) is in place or personnel possess appropriate access badges
- Enter data, query visit control databases and provide assistance in the location of assigned personnel through the use of automated systems and applications
- Report all equipment and software application problems to Government clients for expedient resolution
- Open the security office safe to sign out classified keys to building personnel
- Support the badge handout and escort for meeting attendees
- May work day shift, midnight shift or swing shift
Minimum Qualifications
1-2 years' qualified professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer either US Govt or military experience and experience working security detail
Education/Experience
High School Diploma
Clearance Requirement
SECRET Clearance or have had one within last 2 years
