Charleston Area Medical Center (Charleston, WV) is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer.

The Associate Systems Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and Databases/SAN/Systems within the Information Services Department. Ensures the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computer systems and Databases/SAN/Systems meet the service level agreements of the organization. May acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train and/or supervise staff; or offer technical support for projects. Demonstrates a basic understanding and adheres to departmental processes for change control.    Maintains a level of cybersecurity knowledge sufficient to securely accomplish their job duties. 

Responsibilities

1. Uses established procedures and working under general supervision performing work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character. 2. Utilizes appropriate and timely communication skills within assigned team. 3. Provides intermediate Operating System and Database/SAN/System support to customers either directly or via help desk tickets. 4. Performs intermediate Operating System and Database/SAN/System diagnostics and troubleshooting. 5. Utilizes detailed instructions to perform maintenance, resolve problems, and upgrade existing systems under general supervision. 6. Demonstrate an understanding of components, maintenance methodology, and operation procedures, on a given Operating System and Database/SAN/System including underlying hardware platform and backup & recovery procedures for assigned applications. 7. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. 8. On call as required. 9. Flexible hours when needed. 10. All other duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience in related field required. Intermediate Certifications preferred Experience: 2 - 5 years of related professional information technology support experience.
